The IT Specialist will be responsible for managing, maintaining, and optimizing the health centre’s IT infrastructure. This includes ensuring secure and reliable networks, providing technical support to staff, implementing new technologies, and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations, including PHIPA (Personal Health Information Protection Act).

Responsibilities
  • Ensure effectiveness of an information system which meets the needs and efficient operation of the Centre.
  • Manage, maintain, and troubleshoot hardware, software, and network systems.
  • Provide technical support to staff for workstations, software, printers, and mobile devices.
  • Ensure the security of patient and organizational data through effective IT security protocols as well as safeguards to privacy and integrity of information are upheld.
  • Monitor and maintain IT infrastructure, including servers, firewalls, and cloud services.
  • Implement and support healthcare-specific software, including EMR systems.
  • Manage the data processing equipment and system maintenance according to allotted budget.
  • Coordinate registrations and orientation of new employees to the information systems.
  • Manage email service, mailing lists and other communication tools and systems with staff.
  • Collaborate with leadership to identify and implement IT solutions that enhance efficiency and service delivery.
  • Conduct regular system updates, backups, and maintenance to ensure operational continuity.
  • Train staff on IT policies, security practices, and new technologies.
  • Maintain inventory and documentation of IT assets and software licenses.
  • Coordinate with external vendors for specialized IT services as needed.
  • Any other work or tasks considered relevant by leadership team.
Qualifications
  • Diploma or degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • 2+ years of experience in IT support, systems administration, or a similar role.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft 365, Windows Server, and network management tools.
  • Familiarity with healthcare software (e.g., EMR systems) is a strong asset.
  • Knowledge of IT security protocols and compliance standards (e.g., PHIPA, PIPEDA).
  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, while managing multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
  • Bilingualism (English and French) is an asset.
