Registered Nurses

What services can a Registered Nurse provide me?

Registered Nurses (RNs) are an important part of your care team at Univi Health Centre. They provide hands-on care, help you understand your health and support you in managing ongoing health conditions.

If you are a registered patient at Univi, you can book select nursing services online.

Services vary by site and nurse. Some treatments may require a prescription or an existing care plan.

Vaccines and injections

Nurses provide vaccines to help protect you from illness. They can also answer questions about immunization and give prescribed injections as part of your treatment plan.

Support for managing your health

Living with a health condition can bring questions and challenges. A nurse can help you learn about conditions such as diabetes, high blood pressure, asthma and osteoporosis. They can also teach you how to give yourself certain prescribed injections and support your efforts to quit smoking.

Wound care and other treatments

Nurses help care for wounds, change dressings and remove stitches or staples. They also provide certain other treatments, such as ear flushing and follow-up care after freezing a skin growth.

Care for children and families

Nurses offer checkups for babies, children and teens to help monitor growth and development. Prenatal care and breastfeeding support are also available through select nurses.

Screening and prevention

Nurses help you stay on top of your health through services such as cervical screening (Pap tests), blood pressure checks and weight checks. These visits are also a chance to ask questions and learn about caring for your health.
